We enter into this scene in my life. I am desperately bored at my house, and someone says, “Hey, we’re having this street party, with bands playing, come meet up with me and a bunch of people.” My curmudgeon self says, nah, why bother – sounds like I will be surrounded by new people that might be predictably younger, hipsterish, or a bit ridiculous. Boring! I better pass on it.
But instead, I listen to another side of myself that says “nothing ventured, nothing gained” and decide to go. I end up meeting cool peeps – and a certain someone that shocks my little world up. Kind of a godsend person.
So this song is describing that moment, savoring the positive and life-affirming events that sometimes don’t happen because of our tendency to be blocking and negative.
In this song, I wanted to get that good feeling back, in order to reconnect with the pure moment of it and share it. Maybe good things can only happen when you are ready for it. Try to be ready for it.
“One Drop Buzz” is about a first meeting with people who ended up playing an important role in my life because they answered the call in kind, to be open.
A bit arrogantly in retrospect, we can say to ourselves that, of course, “I knew” it would go in a positive direction, but in reality, I knew nothing, I almost stayed away.
Creating true and important friendships are the jam and jelly in life. Without them, our bones, our hearts are more brittle, our thoughts are more negative, our battles are harder, our losses are not shared.
With this song I wanted to celebrate the rare events in life. Love and friendships that last over time are not to be taken for granted.
