My old man, step-dad Terry and I always “debated” politics, It was a generation gap type thing... and as I get older, I tend to see his side more, but there is more to a President than promises of tax cuts. We debated the politics of the election year of 2000 Bush vs. Gore like nobody’s business, on going since the Reagan Administration really...So debates can be fierce, but we didn’t take it personally. In my opinion Americans are pretty reasonable, as long as we don’t get drawn to battle at the fringes. This song is about us keeping the debate civil. Stay on the hike, toward not a blue or red reality, more of a purple? ...reality for our country.
