Bill Mason on hammond organ donation, Jenny Ng on percussion.

This song was written just after a fine New Zealand solo tour I did in 2008 with Otis Mace, Dragstrip and Andrew Mai Tai. Andrew gets props because he runs the Powertool label in Auckland. He is a true rock and roll spirit! He not only played the drums on occasion with us, when we joined forces as at the end of the evening, but he also drove the van the entire way, and performed roadie, management, door, merchandise and sound duties! He’s our Murray from Flight of the Concords! We did it all the way from Auckland to Dunedin and back!!

I wrote this at the Rydges hotel in Auckland...in the morning! While M. was taking a shower.. that quick.. Turns out, I was right in the middle of something I didn’t really understand, so it’s written as a kind of hope to get through it, it was no way a done deal at the time. It was about to be revealed later that I was like an old pinball machine that’s been pounded too much. I was going to tilt.

about

Rough Church Los Angeles, California

Rough Church from Los Angeles was conceived in 2005. We sing about rare steamy rain, rolling tumbleweeds and lost poems raging against dying lights of empathy. We put out indie pop classic jams that get us compared to everything from Minutemen, Pixies. We are musically spitting in the wind, and somehow we end up getting to the top of our own mountain. ... more
